HELLO, Kenya! Welcome to AfricaBet, Africa’s leading and fastest growing gaming company – committed to taking sports betting in this country to levels unimaginable!

We sincerely hope you can become a part of this exciting journey with us.

Talk was rife in the Kenyan gaming industry recently after the government regulated the tax regime through the Finance Act of 2015 in which authorities ruled that withholding tax was now applicable to gross winnings at a rate of 7.5%, payable by the bookmakers.

You might ask, what does this actually mean to the players in simple terms?

Well, let us give you an example: you place a bet for 1000 Shillings on a soccer match with the odds at the time of your bet stating that you would potentially win 500 Shillings.

If your bet won you would present your ticket and receive 1500 Shillings, your 1000 Shilling stake + 500 in winnings.

Previously, the tax was on the winning amount only, that is the 500 Shillings. But with this new Finance Act, the tax would be applicable to the total amount, meaning the stake + the winnings.

And since withholding tax is payable by the person making the payment, the bookmakers are liable to pay the tax.

This means that in the given example above, if you won 1500 Shillings, the bookmaker would take 7.5% of that away from you, the player, as they would have to remit this to the government, leaving you with the balance.

One also must keep in mind that this tax is not the only applicable tax responsibility the bookmakers must adhere. All the other corporate taxes on revenue still apply. This has set the bookmakers at odds with authorities, resulting in 26 bookmakers having their operators licenses suspended.

With Africabet, you need not to concern yourself with such issues!

Why so? We hold an International Curacao gaming licence certificate. We guarantee you that your winnings are yours and you will always receive them in full without deductions!

These are indeed exciting times in the history of sports betting in this beautifully breathtaking and sports-mad country, and at AfricaBet, our vow is that we will be there with you every step of the way.

Who doesn’t want to be associated with Kenyan sport right now, what with the phenomenal Eliud Kipchoge having made the world sit up and take notice by becoming the first man to run a marathon in less than two hours, as he did in Vienna in October?

It’s the stuff that dreams are made of. Kenya’s proud place in the history of distance running is firmly sealed.

One can be forgiven to go on and on about athletics when talking about sport in Kenya, but this country is an admirably all-round sporting nation, something of which people here are extremely proud.

Next week, alongside the rest of Africa, Kenya’s football team will plunge into battle in bid to qualify for a consecutive Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

We do wish the Harambee Stars all the best in the campaign!

Whilst we are in Kenya, we know at AfricaBet that we can speak the language of Sevens Rugby with sports fans of this great nation.

Kenya’s world-class Sevens Rugby team, which is a core member of the World Rugby Sevens Series, will be in hunt for a place at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo when they gather with 13 other African national teams in Johannesburg on November 8 and 9 for the qualification event.

With Sevens Rugby being introduced for the first time at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Kenya was one of the proud teams to take part in the historic event after clinching Africa’s single qualification slot to join automatic qualifiers South Africa as the continent’s two representatives in Brazil three years ago.

Now, the red-hot Kenyan side will be going to Jo’burg all guns blazing again in pursuit of a second ticket in a row to the famous Games.

Away from Kenya, the world’s leading football competition – the English Premier League – is well and truly underway. Again, it will be fun galore in the EPL this season and we have been treated to some sumptuous brand of football already.

Other leagues across Europe have also hit top gear so early on and we expect more fireworks than ever this 2019-20 season.

The teams are determined, and the players are all pumped up. The fans are excited, you our Kenyan friends are excited, and we at AfricaBet are excited too!

AfricaBet offers the best choice for betting across a wide array of sporting disciplines and our presence in Kenya at this juncture, when two reputable competitors have recently closed shops, is testament to our unshakable commitment to this thriving market.

SportPesa and Betin a month ago shut down their operations in Kenya following differences with authorities.

On the contrary, at AfricaBet, growth is the only thing on our mind.

With you, our valued Kenyan friends, we can go the extra mile together!

#StrongerTogether, the Springboks told all South Africans going into the Rugby World Cup. And they conquered the world!
